A look at what TMU's faculty have been up to lately.

In September, Dr. Beck (business and communication) spoke five times in Jakarta, Indonesia, at the Annual YPPH 国产aa福利ian School Retreat. His speaking engagement included an address titled, 鈥湽鷄a福利ian Worldview and the Marketplace of Ideas,鈥 to an audience of over 5,000 participants.
Dr. Bolen (biblical studies) has completed four new volumes in the Photo Companion to the Bible series: Exodus, Job, Ecclesiastes, and Song of Songs. These digital resources provide Bible teachers with a library of annotated images to illustrate the biblical text verse-by-verse, including photographs of biblical sites, museum artifacts, and cultural scenes.


Dr. Bradley (math) recently had two research articles accepted for publication. Her article about quantum machine learning (鈥淭owards Structure-Preserving Quantum Encodings鈥) was accepted in Physical Review Research. Her coauthors are mathematicians and physicists from MIT and Deloitte. The other article (鈥淭he Magnitude of Categories of Texts Enriched by Language Models鈥) was accepted in Theory and Applications of Categories. Bradley鈥檚 coauthor for this article is a mathematician from Caltech. She also gave a public lecture at the National Museum of Mathematics in New York City in August.
Dr. Ham (business) delivered the keynote address at this year鈥檚 Convocation, titled, 鈥淔or Such a Time as This.鈥 In October, he was also a featured speaker at the Think Biblically Conference, presenting, 鈥淕od鈥檚 Common Grace as Seen in Business and Economics.鈥 In December, he was recognized by the board of directors of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Transportation Authority for his more than 20 years of service on the Citizen鈥檚 Advisory and Oversight Committee, including two terms as committee chairman.


Dr. Kingsley (biblical studies) has completed his Ph.D. in Theology at The Master鈥檚 Seminary. He wrote his dissertation on the priestly covenant in Numbers 25:11-13 and dealt with the components, trajectory, and eschatological fulfillment of this covenant.
Dr. McLain (science) officially became dean of the School of Science, Mathematics, Technology & Health this fall. He presented at the Think Biblically Conference in October, and he was part of a panel on Noah鈥檚 flood at the Evangelical Theological Society meeting in November. Additionally, he coauthored two technical papers on fossil reptiles and a humor book on animals with his daughter, and he presented research at the Origins Conference at Bryan College.


Dr. Morley’s (biblical studies) book, 鈥淢apping Apologetics: Comparing Contemporary Approaches,鈥 has been translated into Spanish and Korean. It explores the theological and philosophical foundations of the major approaches to apologetics, contrasting their strengths and how they are used in practical ways.
Dr. Smith (science) became chair of the Department of Biological and Physical Sciences in October. She recently took research students to present at the West Coast Biological Sciences Undergraduate Research Conference at California State University, San Marcos.


This fall, Dr. Varner (biblical studies) enjoyed a partial sabbatical. He finished some major writing projects, including a volume titled, 鈥淛esus the Messiah: Rejected and Received,鈥 and another titled, 鈥淚ntroducing the Apostolic Fathers.鈥 Along with his wife, Helen, he looks forward to visiting for the first time the ancient country of Egypt.
